Joe is a seasoned builder and developer with decades of hands-on experience crafting homes and communities in Toronto, Canada one of North America’s most demanding construction environments. At CREW, he leads all construction with a clear focus on innovation, quality, and longevity.
Joe’s expertise spans advanced insulation systems, energy-efficient materials, and smart home technologies all of which he now brings to Portugal’s coastal climate. His mission is to create homes that are dry, durable, and future-ready, designed to perform beautifully through every season. He believes a well-built home is not just a structure, but a legacy of care, craftsmanship, and forward thinking.
Tania Carreiras – Co-Founder & Financial & Design Strategist
Tania brings over 20 years of experience in Canada’s financial industry as a respected Governance Officer, where she specialized in strategic planning, ethics, and risk management. She also founded and ran a successful home staging business, giving her deep insight into what makes homes not only functional but visually irresistible and market-ready.
At CREW, Tania wears two essential hats. She oversees financial planning and project oversight with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring each development is financially sound and responsibly managed. Simultaneously, she leads the design vision balancing style and practicality to deliver homes that resonate with both local residents and global buyers.
Her background in finance, paired with her passion for design and commitment to integrity, brings a unique level of professionalism and creativity to every home CREW delivers.
Together, Joe and Tania are the heart of CREW blending construction excellence with design intelligence and financial clarity to build a new era of housing in Portugal.
Our story
CREW Lda was founded in Ericeira to bring a fresh vision to Portuguese homebuilding. After decades of success in Toronto, Canada, Joe Carreiras returned to his family roots in Portugal with a dream: to apply cutting-edge North American construction technologies to Portuguese homes. In Toronto’s demanding climate where winters are harsh and summers hot, Joe mastered building techniques that emphasize durability, superior insulation, and energy efficiency. He saw an opportunity to raise the bar in Portugal, where many older homes suffer from dampness and mold due to poor insulation and ventilation.
Joe set out to change that by creating houses built for health, comfort, and longevity.
Meanwhile, Tania Carreiras spent over 20 years in Canada’s finance industry as a Governance Officer, ensuring organizations met the highest standards of integrity and performance. She also followed her passion for design as the owner of a successful home staging business, preparing properties to delight even the most discerning buyers. In 2023, Joe and Tania combined their expertise in construction, finance, and design to form CREW Lda. Their shared vision is to redefine housing in Portugal by blending the best of both worlds: Joe’s technical know-how and Tania’s financial savvy and design flair. Together, they ensure every project is built on a solid foundation structurally, financially, and aesthetically.
